| Our revolutionary Direct Nanoparticle Deposition (DND) technology |

LIEKKI has invented a new proprietary fiber production technology, Direct Nanoparticle Deposition (DND). The DND technology, as the name implies, deposits directly and simultaneously nanometer sized particles containing both the waveguiding elements and the active ions. This technology avoids the slow and limited process of conventional solution doping.
Our proprietary DND technology enables production of state-of-the-art highly doped fibers that minimize required fiber length, provide strong amplification with broad and flat gain profile, have high efficiency and excellent beam quality as well as reduced photodarkening and reduced nonlinear effects.
Nanoparticle doped fibers have very good usability in terms of splicing properties, temperature and bending characteristics.
Nanoparticle doped fibers offer unmatched performance:
- Extremely high doping
- Minimal photodarkening
- Efficient large mode area (LMA) process
- Flat refractive index profile (RIP) across very large cores
- Radial control of RIP and doping level
State-of-the-art doped optical fibers improve performance and reduce application cost,
with customer benefits including:
- Higher gain per unit length, up to 70% less fiber needed. This includes lower material and assembly costs as well as reduced non-linear effects.
- Increased fiber reliability. Direct deposition of nanometer sized particles stands for more homogeneous cores, less clustering and reduced photodarkening.
- Exact and independent control of RIP and doping profiles for single fiber power scaling, improved beam quality and support of very short pulses by means of 100’s of deposition layers in the core mean.
- Direct deposition without solution doping translates into reduced cycle time and more cost-effective preforms
- Deposition of unique structures such as rectangular or square cores and claddings
